Wyndham Hotel Group, part of the Wyndham Worldwide family of companies (NYSE: WYN), today announced the opening of the 229-room TRYP Berlin, to be managed by Sol Meliá. It is the first TRYP by Wyndham hotel to open in Germany’s capital city and the eleventh property in the country to join the brand.

Located in the heart of the Berlin’s trendy Mitte district and within close proximity to key business centers, entertainment venues and popular attractions, the newly built, six-story Tryp Berlin Mitte serves as an ideal destination for both business and leisure travelers visiting the city.

TRYP Berlin’s spacious, open lobby and adjoining bar showcase refined designer furniture and bold colors. Guest rooms feature modern, comfortable furnishings and fine wood parquet flooring; wired and wireless Internet access; flat screen televisions; and artwork from contemporary local artists. TRYP Berlin also offers TRYP by Wyndham’s signature family rooms: guest accommodations appointed with a large bed for parents and bunk beds for children that are well-suited for traveling families.

Guests staying at the four-star, select-service hotel can take advantage of the on-site, fully equipped fitness center which features a Finnish sauna, spa shower and cardio equipment. The hotel also offers in-room dining, underground parking, business services and convenient access to Berlin’s public transportation systems.

Those guests looking to schedule meetings, conduct business or hold events at the property have access to nearly 1,500 square feet, or 138 square meters, of meeting and event space that can accommodate up to 130 people. The hotel plans to expand its meeting space this summer to accommodate up to 250. State-of-the-art audio visual equipment is also available to event planners and attendees.

TRYP Berlin’s on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Each morning, guests can enjoy TRYP by Wyndham’s signature breakfast, a rich buffet that includes a wide variety of items with special emphasis on healthy, fresh ingredients. The restaurant’s lunch and dinner menus offer regional and international dishes.

One of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe, Berlin boasts an ideal blend of historical sights, vibrant nightlife and fine dining and shopping. Wyndham Hotel Group acquired the TRYP hotel brand from Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts of Spain in June. TRYP by Wyndham, a select-service, mid-priced brand, currently caters to business and leisure travelers in cosmopolitan cities including Madrid and Barcelona in Spain; Paris; Lisbon, Portugal; Frankfurt, Germany; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Montevideo, Uruguay.

Wyndham Hotel Group announced in October that it signed an agreement to manage the 173-room TRYP New York City – Times Square South, the first TRYP by Wyndham property in North America. The property is scheduled to debut in the second quarter of 2011.

As part of a previously announced strategic alliance, Wyndham Hotel Group and Sol Meliá will work together to develop the TRYP by Wyndham brand globally and market the brand through their central reservations systems and loyalty programs.

Resort to Embrace ME Hotel’s First “Complete ME” Concept.

ME Hotels, a collection of “experience-based” urban hotels and contemporary resorts operated by Sol Melia, announced today that the brand’s Cancun property, ME Cancun, will shift to an all-inclusive business model as of January 1, 2011. ME Cancun will embrace the brand’s first “Complete ME” concept, which will break the mold of traditional all-inclusive resorts where non-guests are prohibited access to the property grounds and amenities. In addition to welcoming hotel guests, this revolutionary and industry-first business approach will embrace non-guests and local movers and shakers, allowing them to enjoy the property’s a la carte culinary offerings and revel in ME Cancun’s high style design and vibrant social scene.

Following the success of Sol Melia’s all-inclusive Paradisus Resorts and adapting to the Cancun market, where all-inclusive properties thrive, ME Cancun’s 419 rooms will now allow its guests to choose from an array of packages part of the new “Complete ME” concept. The hotel’s basic offering will focus on traditional amenities found at all-inclusive resorts, such as unlimited food and beverage options, complimentary access to the pool, YHI Spa’s fitness center, “Chill Out Deck,” “The Beach Club,” the property’s WiFi and all in-room amenities including iPod docking stations, Aveda organic products and house mini bar. Guest rooms on “The Level,” the hotel’s premium collection of accommodations, will offer elevated privileges and amenities that will be part of “The Level” package. Here, guests will enjoy services such as private VIP check-in, exclusive use of the 10th floor’s “Living Room” lounge, exclusive concierge services and 24 hour in-room dining at no extra cost.

The resort’s numerous restaurants & bars will remain unaffected with the transition to the new concept. Guests will be able to enjoy dining services from food and beverage outlets including Salt, Beachhouse Restaurant, Silk, e-space, in-room dining and The Water Grill, an Argentinean-style grill that will debut alongside the new model. Additional services such as private “barefoot dinners” on the beach, premium high-energy pool parties with special performances by guest DJs, treatments at the 11,000 square-foot YHI Spa and top-shelf liquor products, among others, will be available for an additional fee. Unlike most all-inclusive properties where a bracelet identifies hotel guests during their stay, ME Cancun will offer a proprietary identification system allowing all outlets to quickly identify guests. ME properties in Cabo, Madrid and Barcelona will not adopt the “Complete ME” approach and will remain operating on an European Plan (EP) basis.

The Innside by Meliá hotel brand previously only operated in Germany, where it has been voted best hotel brand in Germany

Sol Meliá announced the introduction of the Innside by Meliá hotel brand in Spain with the signature of an agreement for a new hotel in Barcelona which will become the first hotel for this youthful urban brand outside Germany. In Germany the brand currently operates nine hotels and was recently voted the best hotel brand in the country by the German people.

Innside Barcelona will open in 2011 and will be added to the company’s hotel portfolio under a lease agreement in a deal overseen by the leading hotel, leisure and tourism consultancy, Horwath HTL.

The hotel is designed for the long-stay market in Barcelona and will provide very spacious apartments measuring between 60 and 160 metres squared, all fully adapted to the Innside by Meliá brand standards: urban and avant-garde design, elegant and futuristic. The hotel will be housed in a 19-floor building known as the LC Torre Europa, designed by the prestigious architect Oriol Bohigas and located in the Plaza Europa in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a new commercial and residential development in the southern suburbs of Barcelona, very near the airport, exhibition centre and Ciutat de Justicia. The Plaza Europa is also becoming a reference point for modernity, architecture and design thanks to the high rise buildings and other constructions that have recently been developed.

The new Innside Barcelona will provide 100 apartments (33 one-room studios, 54 two-room apartments, 10 three-room suites and 3 deluxe 4-room suites), as well as a restaurant, a swimming pool with panoramic views on the hotel roof terrace and a Fitness Centre on the 9th floor.

The new hotels adds to the growth of the brand already announced at the beginning of the year with the agreement for the new Innside Frankfurt, also ensuring the growth levels foreseen by the company as part of its strategy to diversify and strengthen its hotel portfolio using low capital intensive formulas which guarantee financial consistency.

Innside became part of Sol Meliá in 2007, adding to the company portfolio a number of urban and avant-garde hotels in which elegance and a futuristic approach are key and for which there is an ambitious expansion plan in Europe. Atmosphere, service and pleasure ensure a relaxing stay for individualistic and discerning guests.

Innside by Meliá currently operates nine hotels in Germany with a total of 1,275 rooms in Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Dusseldorf (3),Munich (2) and Frankfurt (2).

German customers of Hotel.de, one of the biggest online travel agencies in Germany, chose Innside by Meliá from amongst 700 hotel chains as the best hotel chain in Germany in a survey based on quality, room soundproofing, cleanliness, service quality and professionalism, value for money, food service, wellbeing and sports facilities.

Sol Meliá is to run the 178-room Vincci Condal Mar Hotel in Barcelona under its Tryp brand. The hotel’s owners Vincci and Acciona agreed to cease the operating contract they have held since the property opened in 2005.
