In the outdoor shopping hotbed that is Chapel St., The Olsen pays tribute to one of Australia's most prolific artists with a hotel design the likes Melbourne has never seen.
Melbourne is well known for its love of all things fashion, culture, and style, and Australia (on a larger level) is known for its stunning landscapes and natural beauty. John Olsen, Australia's most respected living artist, has been blessed with the ability to capture all of this, and now, has inspired the creation of a 239-room piece of functional art: The Olsen.
15 stories of white-shaded glass watch over the hum of shoppers in search of that next must-have item, and the hotel's glass bottomed pool (the world's largest) hangs out even further into the fray.
Conference facilities and dining options are all inspired by Mr. Olsen, and feature elements of his work throughout. Upon leaving, turn and look back, you'll be greeted by the site of the world's largest Olsen mural, The Yellow Sun and the Yarra.
