Kemang Icon by Alila Description

Kemang is one of Jakarta’s chicest neighbourhoods, bursting with art galleries, bookshops, upscale restaurants, luxurious modern buildings and traditional Betawinese residences. At its heart is the Kemang Icon by Alila, an all-suite hotel that combines modern high-tech functionality with innovative design, an urban retreat located in one of the world’s busiest cities.

Designed by award-winning Indonesian architect Sardjono Sani, the Icon’s lobby is more art gallery than reception area, complete with a thousand-year-old stone sculpture of Ganesh, two French mirrors from the sultan’s palace at Surakarta and a painting by Indonesian master Srihadi Soedarsono. Water elements, blue glass walls and numerous artworks are set against a backdrop of cool granite, marble, onyx and metal, imbuing the three-level mezzanine and the hotel’s other public areas with a sense of cultural sophistication and visual coherence. A multi-windowed yoga studio provides 360-degree skyline views, as do an elegant rooftop restaurant and a 16-metre infinity pool.

The eight Courtyard and four Edge suites are individually designed and reflect the hotel’s primary focus: personalisation. Before arrival, guests choose everything from the type of pillow they would like to sleep on to the aromatherapy scents they prefer. Bathrooms are equipped with personally selected accessories and meals prepared to specific culinary preferences. And in every room, high ceilings, extensive open spaces, large windows and plentiful light provide a peaceful backdrop for flowing silk curtains and modern ivory and teak furniture. The Kemang Icon by Alila presents an effortless convergence of city and sanctuary, bustle and calm.
