Have you ever come home from vacation with a memory card full of pictures of the hotel lobby? It's an experience guests of The g Hotel in Galway know all too well.
From the moment you step inside the g Hotel, you know something is different. Few hotels care enough about original design to install a design director and Philip Treacy as the visionary behind their art project full of rooms and suites.
Treacy's intimate reception area has black glass walls framing a tank of seahorses. A raspberry carpeted corridor links the Grand Salon, the very pink Pink Salon and the more masculine Blue Lounge. A carpet of thousands of Red Swarovski crystals adorns the Cocktail bar. It's a dollhouse gone glam.
Each guestroom has the distinctive Treacy touch but are havens of intimacy. Everything from the wallpaper to the furniture and flooring has been inspired by the landscapes of Galway. The g offers a total of 101 guestrooms including three specialty suites - the Corner suite, the Atrium suite and the Evangelista. The latter supposedly featuring the actual bed the former supermodel wouldn't get out of "...for less than $10,000 a day.
