Hotel de la Paix Luang Prabang Description

The Hotel de la Paix Luang Prabang’s historic location has been gracefully integrated in the hotel’s design by Thai architect Duangrit Bunnag. The site’s pre-existing French colonial buildings were preserved, including the grand main entrance, while new structures were added in the style of traditional Laotian architecture. The main courtyard, an idyllic realm of charming gardens and pools, is the resort’s exotic centerpiece. An outdoor fire pit is tucked away within the coutyard’s leafy vegetation, as well as a pool bordered by terraces and comfortable loungers. The hotel’s spa and the cooking school overlook a second courtyard, with indigenous trees.

The hotel’s restaurant occupies a traditional two-storey Laotian house with views of the courtyard. Offering both fine and casual dining, the restaurant invokes the heritage of Luang Prabang, by infusing French accents in both its cuisine and ambiance. A classic cocktail bar designed in colonial style includes an inviting fireplace, and comfortable lounge seating, as well as the hotel’s library.

Designer Marisa Noeypatimanond furnished the hotel’s interiors in a modern, understated aesthetic, embellished with touches of Asian ornament. The interiors in all of the 23 suites were uniquely designed and arranged to convey tranquility and to sooth the senses. Spacious and calming, the suites feature rain showers, bathtubs, and soft-cushioned sofas. Every suite is adjoined by an exquisite garden, and the four corner suites each have a private pool. The two Governor Suites offer larger living spaces and more extensive gardens. Two of the Pool Suites have exclusive access to the hotel’s four towers, which date back to the early 1900’s and are the Hotel de la Paix Luang Prabang’s most emblematic architectural feature. With panoramic views over the town’s majestic mountains and historic temples, the towers each offer an intimate space for romantic dining, accentuated by the natural beauty of the surrounding tropical landscape.
