We reached the Groot Warnsborn hotel at the end of an impressive driveway on a dark, misty night. Therefore the twinkling lights at the hotel seemed all the more welcoming. Our rooms was upstairs in the main building where also the restaurant and lounge/bar are located. We understand the ' designer' rooms are in the annex building, but we totally enjoyed our room which was in a more contemporary classic style. The layout however was far from classic with an open plan bathroom, free standing bath and windows on three sides, including a cute French balcony. We liked the walk-in shower with rainhead and solarium (!). And were happy to find a Nespresso machine hidden in the closet with the minibar. Wondered about the glassed-in champagne with two glasses in the see-through window of the bathroom area which you could not reach. Hint to order a bottle downstairs? Not a bad idea, as this was a quite romantic room really. Had a good sleep, wonderful mattress and absolute peace and quiet. We did not have a full dinner at the hotel, but if the breakfast mirrors the food offering later on the day it must be excellent. Attentive staff, comfortable surroundings, picturesque location: definitely recommended.
