This futuristic hotel, with its unique architecture and sophisticated style, is located in the heart of Almere – a modern city with a fresh atmosphere. Each of the spacious rooms in this luxury hotel has its own modern look and specially designed furniture. Total comfort in combination with an array of high-tech gadgets, makes this hotel particularly attractive for business travelers. The Hotel is located within 10 minutes walk from Almere central station. With easy access to the main highway, major cities such as Amsterdam and Utrecht are just a short hop away. Mainly surrounded by water, Almere itself offers many scenic spots in a relatively peaceful environment.

I always wonder why so many hotels are so utterly boring. Is it so difficult to create a nice contemporary hotel that does not hurt the eyes? Mostly you are stuck in cookie-cutter chain hotels with floral bedspreads and chemically treated wall-to-wall carpeting. How refreshingly different the Apollo Hotel in Almere is. The exterior is already striking, a wooden box on stilts high above an organic, 'blob' like entrance building. The box houses the rooms and the blob the reception, restaurant/bar and meeting rooms. I had a nice, modern corner room with a view of the city square and the lake on which Almere's city centre borders. The room has clean lines, is clutterless and with an interesting wall mural. The room has wooden floors instead of the usual ugly carpets. The frosted glass partioned bathroom is small, but everything works perfect including a powerful shower. The hotel lacks spacious public areas, but the restaurant/bar has a cozy feel and is perfect to spend some hours. This is also where the generous breakfast is served. Apollo Hotels is a new Dutch hotel chain, let's hope for more Apollo's like this to come!
