Hotel V Frederiksplein Description

A room at the Hotel V will put you on the right tracks, as staff make it their business to get clients on the hottest guestlists. The Frederiksplein location is near the boho district of de Pijp, home to most of the hip hangouts, so you won't have to travel far. Rooms are decorated in cool metallic greys, with curvy light fittings and stencilled black images above the beds. The lobby, with its puffy C-shaped sofa, soulful soundtrack and quirky fireplace, is a sexy corner for checking emails.

This small hotel (although there are talks enlarging it next-door) is excellent located between the canal zone and the 'in' district of De Pijp which is full of trendy restaurants and bars. There are two tram stops in front of the hotel which take you all around the city. I loved the 'living room' downstairs which doubles as a lobby/bar and breakfast lounge. Rooms are on the small side and I would say avoid the singles in the basements. Breakfast starts at 7 AM above your head and the loos are opposite the rooms. Better to spend some extra cash/plastic on a larger room. Extremely helpfull staff which pride themselves on being "Amsterdammers" (Amsterdam inhabitants) who are unlike like Parisians, proud to share their city with everyone.
