Crozet, France
We say Geneva for clarity’s sake but it’s worth knowing that the Jiva Hill Park Hotel is technically in France — it’s in the greater Geneva area, in the town of Crozet, just across the border, which looks out over the valley towards Lake Geneva. You’ll find it matters little, until you settle your bill in euros rather than Swiss francs.
What does matter is the atmosphere of the place. Downtown Geneva is nice, but the foothills of the Jura mountains are nicer, and the Jiva Hill is a favorite for business travelers who can afford to be a few miles outside of town. Of course leisure travelers don’t mind being so near the mountains either, especially during ski season.
The lines are clean and modern but the Jiva Hill isn’t minimal — the colors are rich, as are the materials, and the place just radiates comfort. The 28 deluxe rooms are deluxe indeed, with high-tech electronics and sleek modern bathrooms, and the six junior suites are only more so, with the addition of private terraces, gardens and Jacuzzis. The spa is surprisingly extensive, given the hotel’s small size, and the restaurant serves a mix of rustic and avant-garde French cuisine — with a view, weather permitting, from the terrace.

Thinking of Jiva Hill Park comes to mind that this is a hotel of details. Ofcourse you need good bones to become a good hotel. The infrastructure is great. It is amazing to see how fast the image changes from urban (Geneva proper) just 10 minutes over the border in France to make way for the serene image of the Jura mountains. At the foot a golf club, in its middle the Jiva Hill Park hotel. The low, wood-clad main building houses the rooms, bar/lounge and spa while around it are the suites/cottages and also seperate the restaurant. This is one of these things: you are not troubled by late night diners in your room, which is perfectly quiet. We stayed in the corner room pictured in the second photo, which feels amazingly private and boasts a spectacular bathroom with freestanding bath and seperate rainshower. The toiletries, bathrobes, towels: all exudes luxury in the details. A welcome tray: water, chocolates, fruit. Tres bien! Spa: everything taken care off. For a small hotel they have a big spa offering. The restaurant: top notch, highly rated cuisine. The overall decor is luxerious and contemporary, but will not put off more traditional tastes. I find Geneva quite stuffy and incredibly expensive. Though the Jiva Hill Park is not cheap, you will find paying in Euros a much better value. Plus the staff are really cheerful and helpful. Staying in Geneva? I would say: head to France to the Jiva Hill Park!

OK, this fine ( golf ) resort is 'nested' at the foot off the French Jura hills / mountains with a view on the Lake Geneva ... It could also be perfect for parasailing, mountainbiking, crosscountry-skiing all in the direct vicinity. The restaurant, its cuisine ( very good wines, regional cheese & typical superb french Jura cuisine ), the spa, the rooms are all perfect. The personnel is really friendly and speaks english. For a digestive, after-work drink, post-golf round there's the Wodka-bar, although the prices for a shot of Wodka are a bit 'steep' even for Swiss / Borderline-standards ;-) We enjoyed our stay very much. Really relaxed !
