Levent
Edition Hotels' second address, in the business district of Levent on the European side of Istanbul, could not be more different from the Marriott-meets-Ian Schrager brand's debut, Waikiki Edition in Honolulu. At The Istanbul Edition, there are no bright colours, patterns or prints; the hotel is an ode to sophisticated simplicity. Its elegant public spaces, which include an airy, double-height domed lobby clad in silver travertine stone, all having a striking Ottoman feel with subtle mosaics, marble floors, bronze and gold-leaf finishes.
The metallic palette continues in the hotel's 78 rooms and top-floor penthouse, which also geature swathes of the dark rosewood and pale oak historically found in Turkish homes. With a sleek bar, exclusive nightclub, a three-storey, 1850 m2 spa by Espa (with a stunning indoor swimming pool and fitness centre) and its already happening, glamorous Cipriani restaurant, The Istanbul Edition is a stirring second act.
